Tim Capes wants the city to rescind the new real estate tax

It decreases property values which then forces the city to raise property tax anyways. Why not just raise property tax in the first place.

Mitch Kowalski wants down-town, pedestrian-only zones, during the weekends.

Nuremberg, Munich, Copenhagen and Ghent are just a few examples of European cities with large, successful auto-free zones. In Canada, Halifax, Calgary, Regina and Ottawa also have successful pedestrian-only zones. Most of these zones allow delivery trucks to service local businesses during the early morning, and street-cleaning vehicles have access after most shops have closed for the night. These zones are vibrant public areas that also become the focal point of arts and other activities. The Kensington Market area of Toronto has experimented with pedestrian zones on a limited basis. It is well past time that the City of Toronto, if it truly desires to be an innovative, world city, to create more of these zones in the downtown area, such zones to be permanently pedestrian-only, during the weekends (Fridays at 6 pm to Mondays at 6 am).

Patricia Kierans wants the City to halt the removal of 322 trees for a condo development

A developer wants to remove 322 trees in "Green Space System" by the Humber River Valley. This should be opposed, or the developer charged for removal: http://www.kingswayratepayers.com/home.htm

Rodrigo Madriz wants the City of Toronto to enforce its snow removal bylaws

Why doesn’t the city enforce its bylaw sidewalk snow removal with the same expeditious diligence as they do with parking violations? It would raise a ton of cash and sidewalks would be “walkable”

Laurie Varga wants Toxic road salts to be banned in Toronto.

Road and sidewalk salts are toxic to people, plants, animals and our water systems. They also cause damage to clothing, concrete and our vehicles making frequent repairs and maintenance necessary.

In cases where there is an excess of space at the side of the road and roads can be expanded to have an extra lane, expand them and dedicate the middle lanes to streetcars.

patrick smyth wants Support the ideals of the Official Plan.

The "New Official Plan" (2006) directs growth in Toronto. The old one was badly abused for political gain. Now that we've paid good tax dollars to get it, let's not have it abused again.

Tim Capes wants TTC to use only dedicated lanes on St. Clair

The TTC buses on St. Clair should use only the dedicated lanes where such lanes are present. It doesn't make sense for exclusively streetcars to use the dedicated lanes while buses don't.

Sherwin Shao wants Streetcars to be eliminated from TTC's long-term transit plans

Streetcars and streetcar tracks are based on century-old technologies, extremely heavy and energy inefficient. We should lead the world in light, modern transportation alternatives for transit users.

Seeing as there is no concrete evidence to suggest either method is effective in reducing crime we should stand up for our rights to basic privacy before we lose them for good like in the UK.

Beth Dranoff wants TTC lanes on St. Clair changed to mixed-traffic use during rush hour

The new traffic lanes on St. Clair Avenue cause heinous traffic congestion and contribute to increased air pollution in the ara -- especially since the reduced lanes are partially blocked during rush hour by BUSES. Suggestion: change the curb sides of the traffic lanes to be the same as are found on Queen's Quay (a gredation rather than a hard curb). That way, they are accessible either (a) to drivers and cyclists as needed, or (b) to divert buses off of the main streets. This will improve transportation mobility for everyone, and will improve air quality by not concentrating all of the emissions into a condensed area while cars are stuck idling in gridlocked traffic.

Help! The right hand lane is always blocked by illegal parkers at rush hr, stopping the flow of traffic. Help give notice to city hall, that we want tougher enforcement to get traffic moving again.

Ron Smith wants Alternate driving days for odd & even licence plates

Reduce traffic congestion by half with the odd/even plate days. While it won't work for all (vanity plates), there would be a significant reduction in street traffic and real incentive to car pool.
